Top 10 Must Visit Romantic Places Around The World
Nothing adds a little somethin’ to a relationship quite like taking a trip with your significant other! Whether you’re looking to impress them or treat them, these romantic destinations will have you living your romantic movie fantasy!
Paris, France
Come on, it is literally the City of Love! It might be a little cliche, but you really can’t go wrong with Paris. Just observing life unfold around you both will have little hearts dancing in your eyes from the start. A stroll down the Seine, or a river cruise if you want to get fancy with it, is a great place to start! If you’ll be on foot, walk across the Pond des Arts over to Sainte-Germain-des-Prés, a neighborhood with a distinctly Parisian feel. Wander a little further south and you can walk through the lush Luxembourg Gardens. After a nice dinner at any number of Paris’ fine establishments, maybe catch a movie at an arthouse cinema like Cinéma du Panthéon. And of course, no trip to Paris is complete without admiring the illuminated Eiffel Tower from the Champ de Mars.
Venice, Italy
Approaching Venice from the mainland almost feels as if you’re sailing to a place out of time, perfect for setting the stage for a romantic getaway! Venice is a great place to simply observe. Of course, there are landmarks worth seeing but they won’t stick out in your mind as much as walking down the winding streets along the canals. Speaking of the canals, taking a gondola ride in Venice as a couple is arguably one of the most romantic things you can do, period. Time will seem to down as you lazily float down the Grand Canal making it easy to glimpse your gorgeous surroundings, including your partner. The Piazza San Marco is the perfect place to end a day in Venice. A late dinner accompanied by street orchestras and a sunset over the basilica is sure to enrapture even the most well-traveled couples.
Santorini, Greece
Santorini will make your heart swell from the moment you lay eyes on the white buildings against the blue waters of the Aegean. There’s a different type of beach for practically every day you’ll spend on the island ripe for exploring with your significant other. The sunsets on Santorini are nothing short of legendary, and Oia is the best place to experience them. After enjoying some delicious Greek food with an ocean view, wander to the north end of town for the best view.
Bali, Indonesia
Adventurous couples, this one’s for you! Bali’s natural beauty and culture and bountiful opportunities to explore both make for a trip that’s not just romantic, but also a satisfying travel experience. Sanur is a great starting point for your trip since there’s plenty to do in the immediate area like exploring the local beaches, perusing art galleries, and taking a sunset cruise around Lembongan Bay. Bali also offers some awesome photo opportunities with your main squeeze, like the Gates of Heaven, the Kalmandalu tandem swing or at one of Bali’s stunning waterfalls. If you need a break from the high-impact stuff, take a day trip to Canggu to do some shopping. Top it all off by arranging a private dinner on the beach through your hotel to really enjoy the sand, surf, and stars.
Maldives
If the beach is your favorite thing, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better place to enjoy one with your sweetheart than the Maldives. One beach you’ll definitely want to visit is the glowing beach on Mudhdhoo Island, and enjoy a moonlight stroll hand-in-hand. The resort experience is a given here, but looking out to the ocean in your own private, overwater bungalow, you probably won’t mind. If you do feel like stepping out, there are a lot of activities to fully enjoy the natural beauty of the Maldives like snorkeling, windsurfing, and hiking.
Bora Bora, French Polynesia
Who doesn’t want to enjoy a perfect romantic getaway in paradise? Bora Bora is a great destination for couples who just want the perfect backdrop for enjoying each other’s company. The resort you stay at will be able to connect you to a plethora of activities like boat tours and snorkeling. On the whole, Bora Bora is a place best experienced rather than explored, so if you’re the type to relax on the beach instead of going on a hike, a trip here might be perfect for you and your plus-one. A trip to paradise doesn’t come cheap, so unless you have deep pockets, save Bora Bora for a significant trip like a honeymoon or a milestone anniversary.
Hawaii, Unites States of America (USA)
Hawai’i is a tried-and-true destination for honeymoons and its easy to see why. While you could while away your trip relaxing on the beach drinking a mai tai, there are so may things you two could experience! Active couples will enjoy hiking to observe the islands’ geological wonders, like Pu’u Pehe, also known as Sweetheart Rock. If you’re more of an urban explorer, leave Honolulu behind and head to historic downtown Hilo or Lahaina’s Front Street. When the day is done, strolling the beach at sunset is an absolute must. You can’t really go wrong beach-wise, but Waikiki is always a good choice.
Seychelles
Seychelles is a popular honeymoon destination, and for good reason! There’s an ancient beauty about this collection of island from their geological composition to the unique flora and fauna. Anse Source D’Argent, Seychelles second-largest beach is a big draw for couples for its pink sands. Victoria, the capital city, is small, but charming and great for an afternoon of shopping. One nice thing about Seychelles is that unlike many tropical honeymoon destinations like Bora Bora or the Maldives, resorts aren’t your only option. There are resorts providing a no-fuss, all-inclusive experience, of course, but you can also find guesthouses and hotels as well.
Kyoto, Japan
The traditional Japanese feel of Kyoto can bring a unique element to your romantic getaway. Schedule your trip in April to stroll along streets lined with pink cherry trees in full bloom. Head down to Shimogyo to see the city from above at Kyoto Tower, then do some shopping on Shijo Street. At night, keep walking down the street and across the Kamo River toward the Yasaka Shrine that will be glowing in the distance. After exploring the shine, proceed to Maruyama Park to enjoy some sake and the best flower-viewing in Kyoto.
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Buenos Aires is known as the Paris of the South, but in terms of raw passión Paris has nothing on la Reina del Plata. There’s a lot of nice places for a stroll in the city; Puerto Madero along the Río de la Plata is a great pick, as is El Rosadal, the rose garden contained within Bosques de Palermo. As the world capital of tango, Buenos Aires has some seriously sexy nightlife. Express your passion through movement at a couples tango lesson, or if you’re not much of a dancer, catch a tango show instead. Buenos Aires is home to South America’s largest LGBTQ+ community, so no matter who you are or how you identify, you can freely express your love.
